SenPokChin Services

FastForword

The school purchases site licenses for students who need extra support for reading. FastForword is a neruoscience research-based program focusing on phonemic awareness that builds and strengthens essential skills for memory, attention, processing rate, and sequencing for children. Children spend 30 minutes per day on the program and results are tracked weekly.

ST math

Every student participated in this on-line visual math program to enhance daily instruction. ST Math is game-based instructional software for K-12 and is designed to boost math comprehension and proficiency through visual learning. Integrating with classroom instruction, ST Math incorporates the latest research in learning and the brain and promotes mastery-based learning and mathematical understanding. The ST Math software games use interactive, graphically-rich animations that visually represent mathematical concepts to improve conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. Students can access this site from home.

Speech therapy

SPC has the services of a Speech Therapist—Holly Harfman every Thursday. Holly assesses students and provides support in the classroom as well as 1:1.

Senior Class Field Trip

Every year the senior class plans an educational field trip. Trips in the past have included camping in cabins above Summerland and a bus trip to Victoria and Jasper. Parents are involved in fund raising activities to support the trip and the school applies for additional funding to provide this yearly opportunity for students in grades 4,5,6,7 and 8.

Monthly Family Nights

Monthly family nights are hosted by the school with support from the parents club. The evening includes games, dinner, and fun educational activities for students and their families.

Monthly Calendar
