Thanks to our $26,000 grant from Indigo Books our library is full of high interest books for all of our students and excellent resources for our Inquiry Units. We are entering our third and final year of spending the grant dollars and have new furniture arriving soon to house more books as all our shelves are full. Senpaqcin Learning Assistance and Resource Teacher, Ms. Woitzik, teaches Reading Power strategies to all of our students once they reach Grade Two and come for weekly visits to our school library for story time. These strategies help students to connect, visualize, question and infer while reading and creates an opportunity to transform their thinking. All of these skills help with meta-cognition and help children to become better readers, deeper thinkers and potential change makers.
The library is a busy and lovely place to be!
